-CHAPTERS 12:13-17-

Introduction to the Eleventh Rendering of Daniel's Seventieth Week

(The authors' on-line book the Clock of the Ages is a study of Matthew 24 & 25, a lengthy passage which contains the most thorough prophetic teaching given by our Lord Jesus.  Because those prophecies will affect the Church and because those prophecies are essential to our understanding of the Book of Revelation, it is recommended that Clock of the Ages be read before entering this study.)

Jesus gave us the key to understanding the prophecies of the Book of Revelation in His discourse to the disciples in Matthew 24 and 25.  (This key applies to other major prophetic portions of the Bible as well.)  We discussed the key in some detail in chapter twenty-nine of our book The Clock of the Ages, where we referred to His prophecies as "Spiritual Replays." (Click here to go to Clock of the Ages, booklet eight, chapter 29--use the "back" button on your browser to return to this page.In that discourse Jesus gave us ten important end-time prophecies, each prophecy to take place at the end of our age, and each prophecy ending with the same event; i.e., the Rapture of the Church.   Because the prophetic portion of Revelation covers the time period from the Rapture of the Church to the end of the world at the end of the Kingdom Age, the period for each replay includes the two remaining "night watches" assigned to Israel:  i.e., "the cockcrowing" the first 3 1/2 years of Daniel's 70th Week just prior to the installation of the Kingdom Age, and "the morning watch" the second 3 1/2 period of Daniel's 70th week at the end of the Kingdom Age. (For a study of the prophetic watches of Israel's night, click here to go to Clock of the Ages, booklet seven, then scroll to chapter 28--use the "back" button on your browser to return to this page.

      ELEVENTH SET

         -The 1st 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week-
Rev. 12:13-16 The dragon and the woman during the first 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week
          -The 2nd 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week-
Rev. 12:17 The dragon and the woman during the second 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week
Revelations 12:
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

The dragon, the woman, and the man child. are prophetic terms that label Satan, Israel, and Christ (See Parenthesis One of our study).

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle,...

"Two
" is the number for the churches.

"Wings" is a way to escape (See Israel's exodus from Egypt, a type of end-time activities--[Ex. 19:1-6; Deut. 32:11; Eze. 17:1-10].)

Exodus 19:4
Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and [how] I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

Notice that in Dan.7:3-4, Babylon was the first nation in the Bible with "wings," used by God to deliver the Israelites from their ungodly leaders (II Kings 24:11) — another type of end-time doings.

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

If Satan was determined to destroy Israel during the first 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week, after a thousand years of torment in hell, he will probably be a thousand times more determined to try to do what he failed to do the first time.  Remember, this will be Satan's final reprieve from torment; and although he knows he will fail in his attempts to stop Christ in what He has determined to do, yet, he really has no choice but to "give it all that he's got!"  It will help us to understand a little where Satan is coming from if we'll remember that he is but a created being able to do only what God allows.  (His only chance to actually get at his Creator was when the Son of God walked the earth in his body of flesh and blood — but Satan failed miserably in his efforts!)   Here at the end of the Kingdom Age, the only way he will have to get at God will be through the remnant of Israel and through the Gentiles who will have accepted Christ as Lord and Redeemer.  But once again, even though it may appear at times that he has made some inroads, ultimately, he will fail miserably.

Dan 7:
3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

4 The first [was] like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
)

A great eagle — Could this be the United States which is already helping Israel because of the strong influence of the Christian and Jewish beliefs in the U.S.?

...that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place... This brings to mind  the forty years in the wilderness, except this will be a shorter version — Also, the thought comes to mind, could this be more of a "spiritual wilderness" than the actual wildernesses outside their cities? or maybe some of both?

...where she is nourished...

The U.S. has been (?will be?) her benefactor.

...for a time, and times, and half a time...

Again, a Jewish, prophetic expression meaning 3 1/2 years.

...from the face of the serpent.

This is another way of saying that Satan will be giving his full attention to the remnant of Israel at the time.

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

This is an interesting choice of words, and its interpretation needs a foundation.   Click here for our interpretation of this verse.

16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

During the time of their Exodus from Pharaoh's Egypt, God had the red sea open up and swallow the Pharaoh's army.  Would it then be unreasonable to assume that God might use an earthquake to swallow the armies of the end time out to destroy the remnant of Israel?
