DoWeKnow Studies the Book of Revelation CHAPTER 8:2-7 (24754 bytes)

-CHAPTERS 19:1-3-

Introduction to the Twentieth Rendering of
Daniel's Seventieth Week

(The authors' on-line book the Clock of the Ages is a study of Matthew 24 & 25, a lengthy passage which contains the most thorough prophetic teaching given by our Lord Jesus. Because those prophecies will affect the Church and because those prophecies are essential to our understanding of the Book of Revelation, it is recommended that Clock of the Ages be read before entering this study.)

Jesus gave us the key to understanding the prophecies of the Book of Revelation in His discourse to the disciples in Matthew 24 and 25. (This key applies to other major prophetic portions of the Bible as well.) We discussed the key in some detail in chapter twenty-nine of our book The Clock of the Ages, where we referred to His prophecies as "Spiritual Replays." (Click here to go to Clock of the Ages, booklet eight, chapter 29--use the "back" button on your browser to return to this page.) In that discourse Jesus gave us ten important end-time prophecies, each prophecy to take place at the end of our age, and each prophecy ending with the same event; i.e., the Rapture of the Church. Because the prophetic portion of Revelation covers the time period from the Rapture of the Church to the end of the world at the end of the Kingdom Age, the period for each replay includes the two remaining "night watches" assigned to Israel: i.e., "the cockcrowing"--the first 3 1/2 years of Daniel's 70th Week just prior to the installation of the Kingdom Age, and "the morning watch"--the second 3 1/2 period of Daniel's 70th week at the end of the Kingdom Age. (For a study of the prophetic watches of Israel's night, click here to go to Clock of the Ages, booklet seven, then scroll to chapter 28--use the "back" button on your browser to return to this page.)

SET TWENTY

-The 1st 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week-
Rev. 19:1-2
The last set (set nineteen) dealt with political and economical "Babylon the Great." This set will deal with the ecclesiastical aspects of "Babylon the Great" -- alluding to the differing fates of the believer and the unbeliever as it does so.
-The 2nd 1/2 of Daniel's 70th Week-
Rev. 19:3
Again, God will deal with the ecclesiastical aspects of "Babylon the Great"; and again, the language alludes to the fates of the believers and unbelievers.
Revelation 19:1-2

1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour,
and power, unto the Lord our God:

Throughout the next four sets, the end of those who follow Christ Jesus is contrasted with the end of those who will have followed the beast. In this set, the redeemed of the Lord are in heaven rejoicing and having a good time; while those who bought into the devil's lies will have been judged and suffering the vengeance of a righteous God. In this verse John uses the best words at his disposal to try to describe the joy and excitement and wonder of the "just-Raptured" Church which will be busy trying out their new glorified bodies and taking in their new surroundings.

Revelation 19:3

3 And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

Again, the Church will be ecstatic with the joy of the Lord. And again, Babylon the Great will know the vengeance of the eternal God. Note the absence of revelation for this set / subject. Apparently, the particulars of the end of the "spiritual whore" will be among those things "sealed" until the day. The key difference between the judgments of the "whore" will be that this time, her judgments will be final and everlasting.

2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

For true and righteous are his judgments... For a God who cannot lie, who is perfect in judgment and mercy and in all that He does, this goes without saying. However, even though the newly-glorified saints believed as best they could while in this life, there will probably be a "it's really real" feeling and a "Wow! Look at our God! Look at what He is doing, and at what He has done! We knew He would keep His Word, but look at this!"

...for he hath judged the great whore, This "great whore" will be a spiritual whore. More than likely, it will be some sort of a "state church" aligned with the beast.

...which did corrupt the earth with her fornication and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. Even as we are seeing things happening today on the spiritual / moral scene that our forefathers could never imagine, likewise, the corruption and violence that Satan will unleash during this period also defies our imaginations. Similarly, what they will reap for their behavior is beyond our comprehension as well. However, we can safely assume that those who will have glorified Babylon the Great and who will have chosen to give their allegiance to the beast will understand the reality of the following Scripture.

Heb. 10:31
[It is] a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
