KEN WROTE:

To whom it may concern:

Hi, my name is Ken L_____ Jr. I was just recently on your website and I have to say that it was such a blessing to read what you are doing. However, I had a question. I was wondering if you guys had any job opportunities available. The Lord has put the love of Bible Prophecy on my heart and I would love work with people that have that same passion. I will do pretty much anything as long as I can serve the Lord by telling the world about our Lord and Saviour. I am 20 years old and currently attend a Christian University. But I would love to work at a Bible prophecy ministry.    If you have nothing available, your site has still been a blessing. God bless you and your ministry.

In Christ,

Ken L______ Jr

DON WROTE:

Hey Ken,

I’m envious of your position in the Lord, just 20 years old and already in love with the things of the Lord. I began my walk with the Lord when I was 26, and I still remember the joy of studying the Bible and having my understanding quickened by the Holy Spirit. Indeed, I would not take anything for the testings and experiences that were mine as I began to grow in God’s Grace. You have a lot of joy ahead of you, so let nothing deter you from studying the Bible and grasping every opportunity to tell others the reason for the hope that is in you.

When you ask us for a job in our ministry,  I appreciate your wanting to give your all to the Lord. However, let me share some of our experiences with some mega-media ministries that encourage new believers to attach themselves to their group and to become their "cheap laborers"—working for only food and board. This applies also to some organizations who are striving to become mega-media ministries.

In our travels, we have come across too many Ministries (so called) that exploit the faith of babes-in-Christ for their own purposes, teaching that "surrendering your all to Christ" means giving your all to their ministry. We’ve seen many respond to such teaching, some having only their time and abilities to give, others bringing their substance as well—which would soon be absorbed by the "ministry." (These organizations are to be distinguished from bona fide ministries set up to meet the needs of indigent people who have no place to sleep or food to eat.)

One of the attributes that mark such organizations is their encouragement of dependence upon the ministry, especially its leader(s). This is contrary to our Lord’s teaching that "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36). One way they accomplish this is to feed their flock like some mother birds do their chicks, predigesting their food (in this case, the Bible) and regurgitating it into the mouths of their baby chicks (with their own digestive slant). Never do they teach their followers that each believer is to have his or her own walk with the Lord as Paul taught the Galatians.

Gal. 5:25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Also, they are recognizable because they do not seek after the things that would profit the sheep in their flock, but always, the flock is to take care of their needs.

Sadly, most such "workers" eventually leave the host ministry bitter and disillusioned. Why? because they did not make the Bible their authority in the things of God, but rather some charismatic individual(s) which used them and then cast them aside. They have also had to consider the fruit of such "host ministries"—too many of which have made headlines in the scandal sheets at the super markets.

Also, while we’re considering things to avoid in your spiritual growth, let me bring up a couple of things for your consideration, both of them having to do with the supposed working of the Holy Spirit in many of today’s ministries/churches. (I bring these problems up because if you haven’t already encountered them, you will shortly, for they are prevalent.) For instance, let’s look at the claim to have the gift of healing which supposedly works hand in glove with "the gift of the word of knowledge." This fairly new phenomenon in the church has gained much attention because of its prevalence in media ministries. According to the TV "ministers," many viewers were miraculous healed every day as they "spoke the word of knowledge" over the airwaves. Strangely enough, these people who were supposedly healed never came forward to give God the glory for their healing. Let’s compare this with the way the people reacted who were actually healed under the ministries of the disciples in the Bible—the Apostle Paul, for example.

Acts 14
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.
14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Now, let’s consider a miracle brought forth by the ministry of Peter and John:

Acts 3
1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus…

"WHY LOOK ON US…?"

Hidden in these passages of Scripture is probably the reason that the Church sees so little of the power of God in its midst. How did the early disciples who actually had the gift of healing behave? They were very careful not to take any credit for what God was doing. Why look on us? they asked. Today, it’s "Look at me! Look at me!" So, we’ve looked at them, and what did we see?

All of the nonsense that has happened in the church world the past few decades has happened for all the world to see. For the student of the Bible, there should be no bewilderment, only sadness as we see it come to pass, for you see, it was all prophesied by the NT writers. However, for those outside the church, roadblocks to faith are established in their hearts making them bitter and cynical to the things of faith.

There is another passage of Scripture that we’d do well to consider.

Acts 16:
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew [them] into the marketplace unto the rulers,

20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

Note that this young lady with a fortune telling spirit attached herself to Paul’s ministry and followed him many days acting as though she was one of them. That her "fortune telling" worked is apparent, else why would people pay her owners much money for her services? Could it be that this passage explains the "strange spirits" that have crept into the church today, saying the things needful to attach themselves to churches/ministries, while practicing their divination and doing their soothsaying. If this be so, then how can one tell the difference between a "word from the Lord" and the word from a soothsayer? That, too, is given in this passage. The "strange spirit" operating in the damsel brought her owners much money; but the servant of God operates on the premise of "freely you have received, freely give."

But back now to the "host ministries." Unfortunately, they not only hurt the individuals they misuse, but they also hurt the Church by siphoning off the Lord’s workers into vain things. For you see, all born-again believers are ministers, called by God to individually study His Word that He might give each of them understanding; and then each believer is to be a doer of the Word, not a hearer only.

II Timothy 2:15:
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
(Cf. James 1:22.)

The Bible is also explicit as to how this "rightly dividing the word of truth" comes about.

I John 2:
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

This verse of Scripture in no way contradicts the fact that God calls men and women to teach His Word. But you see, even when we sit under another’s teaching, we are still to be dependent upon the Holy Spirit for our understanding. In fact, one of the first gifts of the Spirit that each believer needs is the gift of discerning of spirits so that he or she can recognize what is of God and what is not.

Studying the Word is not the only thing in our walk that is to be done on an individual basis. If we’d just consider, we’d see that each of us are accountable for what we do or don’t do with our lives. No one else can stand in for us on our day of accountability. Just as we were born in the natural, each of us must be born again of the Spirit on an individual basis.  Each of us must give account for why we studied or didn’t study the Bible. Though others can pray for us, no one else can pray in our stead. Everyone of us has our own walk that we are called to and each of us must individually walk in the Spirit to walk that walk. Each believer has the call on his life to go into the highways and hedges and compel the lost to come to Christ. We cannot pay another to do this for us. The church leaders are to help prepare us to do this, but they each have their own highways and hedges to work.

The highways and hedges for each of us are filled with our family members, our friends, and our neighbors. Each of us have our center of influence and we can witness to them as no other, for they can see the change that the Spirit-filled walk makes in us. This is the primary way ordained of God for the Church to grow. The work of witnessing was never given to religious "super stars" or to church employs.

Again, I envy the joy that awaits you as go forward in the things of the Lord and learn what He has in store for you.

Let me leave you with the words of the Apostle Peter:

II Peter 1:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The bottom line is that we should not say, "I was saved, healed or blessed...under Brother _______'s ministry.  If you feel you must mention the brother, then you should say, "While Brother _______ ministered, the Spirit of the Lord came and touched me."  To be careful to give God the glory will not offend the brother; for if his ministry is of the Lord, this is the way he would want it.

Thanks for taking time to WRAP with us,

Don

PASTOR  STEPHENS  ADANIYI  S____________ WROTE:

Greetings to you in the name of our lord christ jesus.
We are misionary pastors here in the city of ibadan to
plant the church of the lord according to God's divine
directives. Well we give thanks to the lord for his
faithfulness so far since we arrived here (april 22).

We presently have 3 house fellowship centres by his
grace. But now we are in urgent need of a proper
worship center for our sunday services(no matter how
small or big) at least to encourage the new converts
even in their service to the lord.

We hereby solicite for your assistance with the
equivalent offering of three hundred and fifty
dollars($350) which will adequately settle this
present need.

We appreciate you in advance

God bless

DON WROTE:

Dear Pastor,

Thanks for WRAPPING with us. Oh, that the Lord would call the whole church to fulltime missionary service for the need is that great.

You are the third "mission" this month that has WRAPPED with us, wanting us to help them raise money. If you will go through our site, you will find that we have no fund raising on our site for we have learned to lean on the Lord for our needs. In the past, when we had a need, we would find what we needed in the Post Office or we would have someone come to us on their own, saying that they felt compelled to share with us, OR a job would open so that we could earn what we needed.. We do plan to assist missionary efforts, but it is not our goal to help anyone raise money.

Also, if you will consider for a moment, you will find that your position is not unlike the position of the disciples in the early church—So why not learn to lean on the Lord as they did and expect Him to work with you as He did with them. We will fervently pray that the abiding Grace of Jesus rest upon your call and you will learn the great depths of the 23rd Psalms that states the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.  The key is that "He preparest a table in the presence of mine enemies."  Please ponder this!

Thanks for WRAPPING with us.

Please, do you have all this information in book form. It is very difficult for my wife and I to read from a computer screen.

Thank you.

Hello Cecil,

We have had several ask us this question, but unfortunately we do not have the books on the market in hard copy form.  Our family supports our ministry; and at present, we feel our money is best spent in maintaining our web site.

However, do you know that most browsers have an option whereby you can increase the size of the letters in the books?  In Netscape and the Microsoft browsers, you can do this by going to "view" in the menu bar at the top of the page.  In the Microsoft browser, you then choose "text size."  In the Netscape browser, you then choose "increase font."

It has been suggested that we might read the books on line so that our visitors can listen as they read.  Would you find that option helpful?

Also, if you have a printer hooked to your computer, you can print the books.  We only ask that you if you share them, you do so without charge.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions might be helpful.  If not, then pray with us that the Lord will put it in the heart of some good publisher to put our books in print.

Thanks for your interest in our ministry.  We do entreat your prayers.

Love,

Don

If you have a printer with your computer, feel free to print as many copies as you can use.  If you have encountered a problem with printing the chart, let me know.

Thank you for your interest in our work.

At this time we do not have a mailing list (other than for our Christmas Cards) or a newsletter for we all work at occupations to support ourselves and ministry and our time is limited.  However, if you will check back now and then, you will find that we do put up our WRAP AROUNDS once or twice a month; and there may be some comment or question that perks your interest.

Also, we plan to add more of our music and more radio programs as time permits.

If you were blessed by what the Lord has given us, be sure to share our site with others.  In so doing you become important co-laborers with us--for if people do not know of us, they cannot be touched by our ministry.

Maranatha,

Don Love
