Question-Comment:
This old world is headed for Hell at Mach V all right. If only a quarter of what I've been reading from the Internet is correct, the USA has passed the point of no return.

One example: The Supreme Court decrees that a law banning partial-birth abortion is wrong. So killing babies is okay? Then why should I be prosecuted for taking my 9mm Glock and smoking a few people I don't like and calling it 'retroactive abortions'?

I don't condone killing people outside the womb, but if it's okay to murder unborn babies or babies just being born, then why is it so heinous when someone flips out and shoots an abortionist? In the strain-at-gnats-while-swallowing-camels mentality, the Supreme Court continues to say the former is 'Constitutional' and the latter is a crime.

Well, this nation has passed beyond Sodom and Gomorrah. How much longer God will wilthold His Wrath I cannot say. But sooner than later, His patience will end.

You have expressed your sentiments very well. Let me give you something to consider. The Scriptures do say:

Jer. 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before
thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and]
I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

What if God communes with the unborn baby just as he did Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? Do you think the tiny infant would want to be born to a mother or father that desires in their heart to kill it? We assume that unborn children have no voice. What if they do? What if the child and God commune and the child says, "I don't want these parents." We seem to think we have control over our bodies by legislating laws that free us from the results of unprotected sex. The Bible say, "Come let us reason", so, let's reason out this new revolution of sexual freedom. The rapid spread of Aids, venereal disease, abortion, divorce, national medical expense…shows us that at this point we have control over very little on the sexual scene.

Partial birth abortion would happen when I was a little girl before Cesarean sections were done or because hospital facilities were not available. I heard stories about some of our neighbors that experienced partial birth abortion because the baby absolutely could not come through the birth canal. It was almost more than the families could take emotionally when the tiny baby had to be dismembered for removal from the mother. This was a rare occurrence, however. Now, there is birth by Cesarean section that should make this no longer necessary if the mother has prenatal care. Are we to assume that this law has to be kept on the books because some people are denied medical care? (I have difficulty seeing how this could pertain to the abortions performed because of rape or incest.)

How do I feel about abortion? I feel that people have been overcome and they were never taught that there are life choices when they were children. It is too late to teach these choices when the sex hormones start to take center stage. This is perfectly normal because God made sex hormones a vital part of survival of the species. It is also a viable expression of a monogamous relationship. To me, those that are marching against abortion should be supporting a church bus ministry, get those children into church while they are young and share with them the message that God loves them. It is normal for people to crave/ seek/ long for love. The first institution God ordained was marriage. What is not normal is equating love only with sex. Sex is a small expression of love since there are many kinds of love; however, the part of the body that is "trained" the most will be predominant whether it be muscle building, intellect, etc. In our society, the media focuses primarily upon sexual appetites. As a natural result, this over-trained part of people will take predominance. Again, how can people make informed choices unless they are taught the Scriptures from a small child on…Will this stop all illegitimate births, all rapes, all incest. No, but if people are taught that choosing ones marriage partner should include much prayer and guidance; then, this would cause a marked decrease in this problem. We are not of the nature of a dog, to take sex randomly, without responsibility. Sex means procreation; this means nurturing children.

Remember, I keep saying that being a Christian is a CHOICE. We give FREEDOM of CHOICE in many areas in the U.S. The time to teach a person about Christian concepts is from infancy to age twelve. The person will have enough scriptural background to make a decision about whether or not to accept Christ and become a born again Christian. This is about the ONLY deterrent we have to abortion because the laws of the land now give permission for this to happen. If the Scriptures no longer have the power to deter an individual, then, there is no other deterrent. Remember, Jesus did not stage protest marches; He did not advocate passive resistance such as Gandhi used in India; or political marches as used in the U.S. He always taught one-on-one witnessing for personal salvation. The methods of abortion have been adopted into the law of our land; so, the only way to change this is to get a greater number of Christians to vote for change. The only way to do this is be witnessing everyday and bringing the active Christian population back up to the politically viable margin of 15%..

This "partial birth abortion" is a strange concept to me, so, I pulled it up on the Internet. Unlike abortion procedures in earlier months, a partial-birth abortion takes three days to complete. This method is performed on pre-born babies beginning at the fifth month of development. The abortionist begins by dilating the woman's cervix for two days. Then, on the third day, he uses forceps to deliver the entire baby except for the head. At this point, the abortionist uses blunt surgical scissors, or a trochar, to stab the baby at the base of the skull. He then inserts a vacuum tube and sucks the child's brains out. Then he can collapse the skull and pull the dead baby through the cervical opening.

Dr. Martin Haskell, the physician who pioneered the technique after the late Dr.James McMahon, noted that during the three-day process, additional medical treatment is administered for such side effects as severe cramping, sleep disturbances and blood loss. Dr. Haskell warned that a partial-birth abortion may not be appropriate for some patients.

Since there are no reporting requirements for abortions, it is impossible to know for sure how many partial-birth abortions are performed annually. However, Ron Fitzsimmons, executive director for the National Coalition of Abortion Providers, admitted on a 1995 "Nightline" show that he "lied through his teeth" about the number of partial-birth abortion's performed each year. He conceded that such abortions are fairly common and are performed on healthy fetuses. During the initial debate over abortion, there were uncertainties as to whether the baby had a capacity to feel pain during the procedure. According to Professor Jean A. Wright, associate professor of pediatrics and anesthesia at Emory University School of Medicine, the baby does feel pain. At the 19-20 week stage of development when partial-birth abortions are performed, the baby may feel pain even more intensely because the brain has not yet developed the capabilities for blocking pain.

We should also note that the average cost for a partial-birth abortion ranges from $1,200 to $1,600 depending on the length of pregnancy. This method of abortion is a lucrative business for those doctors willing to perform it. But the $1,200 to $1,600 price tag mentioned above is but a tiny drop in the bucket when compared to the expenses to care for a dear, sweet, afflicted child.

So, we can sum up by saying that there are many things to consider when addressing the matter of abortion.

Let me leave you with a personal word. We have a child that suffered a stroke when she was 15 days old. I cannot describe the day by day walk of learning/ adjusting/ hurt/ expenses that accompanies such a tragedy. However, to watch her meet all the miles stones that we consider "normal" for a developing child has been a special gift. We cannot imagine not having her in our lives. But before Sweetsie, I could not imagine God ever giving me an afflicted child to raise. Right after she was born, I was told she would not live to be two years of age—then, not more than eleven years. She is now twenty-three and has an excellent quality of life, built around her capabilities. So, let me say that although we feel that we love God dearly; as with everyone else, we live with the results of things we have no control over, i.e., inherited genes, environmental hazards, or results of prenatal diseases. We certainly all need mercy!

Hi there

I've written to you a couple of times and you've always been most helpful. I've been a vegetarian for about 8 years now, and a Christian for about 14 months. I hadn't thought of the two 'clashing' until people started saying things to me like 'You can eat meat you know when your a Christian', and 'How do you find vegetarianism fits in with the part of the Bible which says that we have dominion over the animals, and 'God made the animals for use to eat, etc'.

My reply has been that I have no problem with the Bible saying that, but for myself I don't agree with the cruelty that goes into modern day intensive farming practices, and vast amounts of land and and resources (water and fodder production, a good amount of land and food is produced by the Third World for the Developed World!), and would prefer not to be part of it, (I personally don't think that Jesus would be too happy with the lack of sensitivity and cruelty showed towards his creatures, and the way food etc is wasted on such a huge scale).

Anyway, recently I was reading a magazine and was shocked to see a picture of Jesus, with the caption 'Jesus was a Vegetarian', and that one of the reasons for them saying such a thing is that the bread and fishes spoken of in the bible, actually refers to 'fishweed' which is still harvested today on Lake Galilee.

All this doesn't affect my Christian walk with Jesus at all, nothing could budge that, it just give me something to think about. Incidentally, I don't believe that Jesus was a vegetarian.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks a lot.

Evidently, this comes up as an issue when ever food is served. How ill mannered I would be to go to a dinner and say, "I don't like liver"; "I don't like cake," "I don't like what you serve." Have you ever seen people like that? Good manners dictates that they need to just quietly choose foods they like and move on. Our dietary preference is simply our preference. There is a church that makes their eating habits a part of their doctrine. It might save their body from some impurities but eating or drinking certainly does not earn them a special place in heaven.

1 Timothy 4
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. d by the word of God and prayer.

Rom. 14:3
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

1Co. 8:8
But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

Col. 2:20
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

Heb. 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For [it is] a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Gen. 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Gen. 9:3
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

Research does show that we certainly need more vegetables than most of us consume. We are aware that when we eat meat, our bodies have to filter impurities that the slain animal might have ingested or been unable to filter out. However, with the residue left on vegetables from insecticides, our bodies ingest very harmful things. At least when we eat a slain animal, their filtering system has combated some of the impurities. Unless you go to a health food store or only buy organically grown foods; then, you are really "straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel." I don't know if there is any research that shows that vegetarians live longer than those with other dietary laws. If you are aware of this research, please let me know.

I'm not worried about your eating habits. I can tell from your writings that you truly love Jesus. Jesus' last words said nothing about "go ye an eat." Actually, they were the Scripture that follows this paragraph. We have made too many ordinances of man a part of the path "to Jesus" and a part of "remaining faithful to Jesus." But truth is, the bottom line of being faithful is spending quality time witnessing to the lost of this world.

Mar. 16:15-20
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with [them], and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Hello,

One of the biggest uncertainties in Bible prophecy, is the

timing of the prophesied invasion of Israel by Russia.

Do you believe this invasion to take place before or after the rapture?

Thank You,

Thanks for taking the time to WRAP with us.

To me, as I study the prophetic Word, there are two basic reasons that God gave us the "nations of the end time"—and both are tied up with out faith.

  1. First, I feel that God wants us to know that He knows what will take place in the future and that the future is in His hands; for this is crucial to our faith in Him.
  2. And then, I feel that the fact that the "key end-time players" are in place and that they are "lined up spiritually" (i.e., atheistic and anti-Semitic nations are all around little Israel as per the Scriptures) should also serve to heighten our expectation of our Lord's return.

As to just "who" these end-time players will be and to the exact "when" of their activities, I find no clue; and I know of no one, except God, who knows. (You allude to Russia invading Israel, but Russia is in a transition and the Russia we know today very well might not even exist when we get up in the morning.) We all can speculate, and sometimes it is fun to speculate—but sometimes speculation can be a waste of time.

I can spend hours pouring over the Bible, looking at maps, reading other people's commentaries about this matter of the "Bear from the North" or I can spend that time witnessing to people about John 3:16. If they have John 3:16 and they have been born again, they will be ready for whatever the "bear" does—in fact, they will be as ready as anyone can be for the end time. But if we selfishly hug our salvation to ourselves—well…you get the picture.
