TO OUR FELLOW CYBER-SURFERS:

We apologize that we are late getting our September WRAPs up on the Web, but we have been busy dodging hurricanes the past few weeks and have been without electricity more than we care to remember.  The following cartoon has been making the rounds and it depicts how we in Florida have been feeling lately.

ISLAM WROTE:

Dear Brother& Sister in Christ-

Have you ever tried to run away from your sins?

Are there things in the past you have not resolved that you are just trying to sweep under the rug?

But 1 Timothy 5: 24 let us know our sins are never gone; they may be ahead of for judgment, and if not, they are surely trailing behind, “The only way to rid of these sin’s is Repentance”

We may be able to fool other people, but we can never fool God.

So let us come and repentance for our sins to our savior Lord Jesus Christ and ask forgiveness for our sins.

May God bless you All-

B'ANN WROTE:

First, let us address "self-condemnation" versus "spiritual growth."  Satan would have us constantly bring up past indiscretions/sins against ourselves. That is his job.  He is the accuser of the brethren.  The only way we can rid ourselves of "self-deprivation" is to accept the forgiveness of Christ Jesus in its fullness.  If we are constantly fighting a "mind battle" about things in our past; then, we are utterly consumed with the task and cannot be profitable in the present.  We have to accept these Scriptures by faith.

Eph. 2:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

II Corinthians 5:
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

When Satan comes in with an attack against our position in Christ, we need to fight it by singing Scripture songs, reading the Scriptures aloud, quoting memorized key verses (when Jesus overcame the devil during His time of testing in the wilderness, He did not answer the devil except with Scriptures), or going to an assembly where God/Jesus is being praised.  It is not enough to listen to someone else sing the songs, someone else read the Scriptures or go to a stagnant, dead church assembly.  It needs to be an active endeavor, an exercise in faith if you will. An elderly preacher, that has since gone to be with the Lord, told me to go into my room and jump up and down with joy.  This was in regards to someone that had told vicious lies about me when I was young and which severely undermined my efforts for the Lord. It works!!!

Jesus taught about repentance when He washed the disciples feet.  He was teaching that He would have to "cleanse our walk"; hence the reference to washing of the feet, as we go about our daily lives.  Remember Peter was concerned about Jesus placing Himself in the lowly position of a bath house servant!  Jesus reprimanded him with, "If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me."  What blessed assurance.  We do not know when we might have "spiritually dirty feet" but Jesus is right there to wash them.  This is shouting ground.

John 13:
3   Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4   He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5   After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6   Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7   Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8   Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9   Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10   Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11   For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12   So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13   Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14   If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
15   For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16   Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17   If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them...

Do not think that you will please God by constantly repenting of things that have already been cleansed by His Precious Blood.  What a waste of time!!!  Get up off your face and start walking.  This "walking" for someone that is still tormented by Satan should be reading the Scriptures and giving a personal testimony.  Personal testimony can be done one-to-one by the simple sharing of a salvation tract with the message of John 3:16. After the tormenting thoughts start to leave, then there will be freedom to do heavier, greater work for Christ.

I know that we now have a strong segment of humanity that bows so many times a day in an act of contrition/holiness.  But that is flesh!!!  The type of holiness we must have can only come as a Gift from God.

John 8
4   They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5   Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6   This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7   So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8   And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9   And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10   When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11   She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12   Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

We keep groveling and apologizing for existing.  We need to stop condemning ourselves and walk in the Spiritual Heritage that belongs to each individual person.  I hope you hear my message.

DON WROTE:

Thanks for taking the time to WRAP with us.  As I read your WRAP, it comes to me that you would profit from reading our on-line book, MARK THEM

Also, let me share some truths that helped me greatly during my early years as a Christian.

First, let me point out that even though you and I were not in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve when they committed the first sin, nevertheless, because of their transgression, God now considers all men and women to be sinners because of the first couple's failure.  You and I weren't there, we had nothing to do with it--yet, because of their sin the Bible declare us all to be sinners and our experience agrees with the Bible.  However, God knows that we had no choice but to be born with the sin nature, so He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sin so that men and women can enter into the righteousness of God and become sons and daughters of God--having the righteousness/perfection of Christ Jesus put to their account.  (Our Lords death was determined before He ever created man, "the Lamb slain before the foundations of the earth" being one of His titles.)  And just as we weren't in the Garden of Eden, yet we still became sinners because of what happened there, likewise, because of our faith in Christ, even though we were not at the Cross, God now looks upon all believers as though we have never sinned because of what Jesus did for us on the Cross!  Also, for all born-again believers who have learned to walk "in the Spirit," our day-to-day experiences bear witness with the declarations of Scripture!  All this has to do with our standing in Christ Jesus--i.e., every believer in Christ Jesus is accredited with His righteousness so that when God looks upon us, He does not see our sin, but the righteousness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

However, there is more to being a Christian than our standing.  We also have a walk that we must accomplish while we remain on this earth; and this walk is not always easy.  In fact, the Bible calls it a warfare and some are even called to give their lives in this warfare; nevertheless, this warfare is not carnal, but spiritual and our weapons are not of this earth, but of God!  Those who are victorious in this warfare are those who have no confidence in the flesh, but learn to trust fully in God and walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit which is given to every believer.  It was this warfare that Jesus had in mind when He told Peter that He must wash his feet; for when we walk out our paths of faith down here, are feet tend to become dirty.  For you and I, John explains what Jesus meant by this statement in his first epistle.

I John 1:
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

I, personally, have learned to trust the Holy Spirit in this matter of "confessing my sin" and "repenting of my sin."   When I enter into my prayer closet, I have learned to listen to the still small voice of the Spirit and let Him bring to mind what I need to repent of lest I fall into the condemnation of the devil and consequent depression.  If I will trust Him to do so, the Holy Spirit will bring to mind what I need to confess to God and He will also give me the faith to receive His forgiveness so that I can press forward, confident that He has thrown my sin into the Sea of Forgetfulness, never to remember them again even as He has promised!  This is one of the glories of being a Christian, no matter what I did yesterday or any other previous day, in Christ Jesus I can begin each day anew as if I were a new person--a person standing before my God with no sin laid to my charge.  Herein lies the victorious Spirit-filled life promised to each believer.

Pray with me that all of God's children my learn to walk in faith and victory.  Again, our on-line book MARK THEM is filled with truths that will help the believer successfully walk the "walk of faith."

Let's not forget to pray one for another.

Maranatha,

Don
