OUR CYBER-VISITORS:
Many write to us and ask where the church is today. What should we be doing? What should be our goal? B'Ann WROTE Hello to you. The Lord has impressed upon my heart to give these directions and admonitions to the church. Statistics tell us that for the most part, today's churches have few, if any, new converts. The reason? Instead of fulfilling the Great Commission and seeking the lost in their families and neighborhoods, people are running from one ministry to another seeking a word, a revelation, a sign if you please. While I was meditating, this Scripture came up before me.
In this passage, God is telling us to stop "running around here and there" and pray. People buy stacks of books, tapes, and videos from different ministries. They try to follow these writings of men, but we need to be careful that we do not start imitating other ministers. The greatest imitator in the world was Satan; he still tries to imitate Jesus. The Holy Trinity desires an intimate relationship with us. If we do not learn to pray as we should, we can be led astray. Many are going "to and fro" doing the biding of some man that stands in front of a church and says "thus saith the Lord". How do we know that God has spoken unless we can hear HIM for ourselves. What is totally neglected in today's busy, busy pursuit of knowledge is personal witnessing. From the moment we are born again, we can start sharing John 3:16. If one wants to know how effective they are in the kingdoms work, if are they listening to the right VOICE, then they need to think about how often the message of salvation is shared. No, Jesus will probably not count how many times you read someone's commentary on the Bible, listened to their tapes, looked at their media productions, but rather how many times someone shared John 3:16. The bottom line of any real ministry (be it a church or an individual) is that it points people to the Saving Grace of Jesus.
Also, as never before, we need the power of effectual prayer. We need to stop! stop! stop! doing busy work for Jesus and pray in the Spirit. When Jesus left from the Mount of Transfiguration, His words were:
The enemy of our souls would have us to believe that witnessing is something we just can't do–that we would be too clumsy or embarrassed to share our faith in Jesus. But think about it, our Heavenly Father is a loving and gracious God; and there is no way that He would command us to do something that we cannot do! In fact, those who dare to obey God and share the Good News of His Only Begotten Son find that God is very much with them in the endeavor. They also discover that they have entered into one of this life's greatest joys–in fact, all of heaven rejoices at the salvation of one soul and they get to share in that joy!!! |
