| TO OUR CYBERVISITORS:
Many
reporters/commentators in the past week have been offended by Walmart's
"politically correct stance" of having their employees saying a generic
"happy holidays" instead of "merry Christmas" to their customers--as though
Walmart has somehow betrayed them and the country that made them to be one
of the largest retailers in the world.
Let's think on this for a moment.
Americans have always been known for their graciousness to others and
their willingness to share the opportunities of the "more
abundant life" promised in the Bible and experienced in America. Down
through the years, we have welcomed immigrants and visitors to our shores
because of a common factor: i.e., respect for one another!
For generations, when Americans would celebrate their holidays by wishing
one another a Merry Christmas, visitors from other countries respected our right to enjoy the things
of our culture. Today, however, the floodgates have been opened to our
Christian nation and politicians have invited into our midst those who are intolerant
of the things that make up our great culture. These "guests, " forgetting that they
wanted to be here because of the "more abundant life" that we enjoy, want
our material/financial standard of life, but want to replace the heart of our culture with things from
their culture--cultures which have obviously failed them or they wouldn't
be here seeking a better life! These rude visitors now "demand" to be on our welfare
roles, "demand" that our children learn to speak their language,
demand that we make a place for their religions (many of which would do away
with ours), etc. To make matters worse, we now
see "Americans(?)" who, for the sake of profit, would go along with their
rude demands, even denying us the custom/right to greet one another during
the Christmas Holidays with "Merry Christmas."
To top off all of this, you and I are branded as "intolerant" if we
insist on honoring Christ on His Birthday because by doing so, we might
offend some member of a religion that brought down our twin towers and is
insanely murdering innocent men, women and children all over our world.
CHRISTIANS/AMERICANS--it is time for us to WAKE UP! It is not God that
is asleep, it is you and I. We need to get to our prayer closets and
once again bring God to the defense of our great nation.
It is my opinion that these reporters/commentators
are on to something, although they may not agree with me when I try to make
a case for them--but I would ask them to withhold their judgment of what I
am about to say until they read it all--remembering that CHRISTMAS is a
holiday that celebrates the birthday of Jesus Christ, the main reason for
the Bible's existence and, according to the Bible, the reason for the world's
existence.
Col. 1:
16 For by him [i.e. Christ] were all things
created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible,
whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all
things were created by him, and for him:
It is common knowledge that the founding fathers were familiar with the
Bible and I'm satisfied that they had at least four passages of
Scripture in the forefront of their mind when they drafted the constitution that
would govern the new nation that is now our proud heritage.
The first passage comes from the 10 commandments; in fact, it is the
first commandment.
Exodus
20:
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any
graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to
them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God...
The other passages come from the New Testament and are either the words
of Jesus or words referring to Him.
John 3:
14
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son
of man be lifted up:
15
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 10:
7 Then said Jesus unto them again,
Verily, verily, I say
unto you, I am the door of the sheep...9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and
shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Acts 4:
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of
Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified,
whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before
you whole. 11 This is the stone which
was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved.
So, if our founding fathers were aware of these Scriptures, and I'm
satisfied that they were, then not only did they understand that the God Who
they were entrusting with the well-being of their new nation was a jealous
God--but that He was also the ONLY God in existence. In addition, they
understood that God sent Jesus, His ONLY Begotten Son, to die the
sacrificial death of the Cross for the sin of all mankind so that WHOSOEVER
believes and receives this GIFT from God might become partakers of the gift
of eternal life. They understood that because of the Lord Jesus' death, burial, and
resurrection from the grave, faith in Him is now the ONLY DOOR to heaven; and
they understood that THERE IS NONE OTHER NAME GIVEN UNDER HEAVEN WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED!
Also, I'm satisfied that not only were these Scriptures in the minds of our
founding fathers, but that these Scriptures, for the most part, have governed our
forefathers down through the generations--though, sadly, we now have a great
portion of our governing body that would throw away this precious foundation
and have us to place our lives and the future of our great nation on
"sinking sand."
Matthew 7:
24 Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him
unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat
upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall
be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat
upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Summation:
We have been tolerant of different religions, races and creeds.
Now, they have multiplied on our soil and are not tolerant of us. The
things that we have believed, advocated, and lived and died for--these have made us
to be the greatest nation on earth. It would seem that if their
culture/beliefs were so great; then, they could have taken their
societies/cultures and built great nations of their own. Looking at
history, many did; but most of their nations fell from corruption within.
Do we need to throw away all the good things that we have had and embrace
things from other countries that have proven not to withstand the storms of
life?
ARE WE GOING TO STAND IDLY BY AND LET OUR NATION FALL? I'll say
this on behalf of the many of our reporters/commentators who have eyes to
see. At least they can see the problems and are doing their best to
bring them to the light of day! If we are not aware of a problem,
then, perhaps we are justified when that problem destroys us--if that's any
consolation. However, because of these who are sounding the cry--we
cannot say that we did not know!
